Shannon & David: A Safari Love Story at Chirundu Safari Lodge

💘 A Love That Grew Wild & Free

Forget ballrooms and flower walls — Shannon and David tied the knot in the heart of the wild, where elephants roam and love runs free. Set in Chirundu Safari Lodge, their wedding was a magical mix of nature, elegance, and African soul.

Their story started like all the best ones do—unexpectedly. A weekend getaway with mutual friends led to long chats around the fire and shared owners on the Chirundu. Two years, one puppy, and many bush adventures later, David proposed during a surprise picnic near a watering hole. Naturally, they wanted their wedding to reflect that untamed, adventurous love.

🌳 The Ceremony: Under the Baobab

The ceremony took place deep in the jungle, where an ancient baobab tree stood like a sacred witness. No arches, no altar—just nature doing its thing.

Shannon wore a flowing off-the-shoulder lace dress, her hair in soft waves crowned with a dried floral halo. David kept it relaxed in cream chinos, a white shirt, and leather suspenders—no tie needed when the love speaks loud enough.

🎶 The couple exchanged personal vows. Guests were seated on wooden chairs, fanned by soft breezes and the occasional call of a fish eagle. As Shannon made her entrance—glowing, and draped in an ethereal white gown—every head turned, but David only had eyes for her.

With wildflowers in her hands, she walked down an aisle made of dirt and dreams. David waited under the baobab in a relaxed linen suit and shiny shoes, his heart pounding louder than the drums that followed their kiss.

✨ The Lodge Reception: Intimate, Romantic, Magical

As the sun dipped behind the escarpment, everyone headed to the main lodge, where the real party began under a canopy of fairy lights and stars.

Tables were dressed with candle clusters, wild greenery, and soft blush roses. A mix of vintage brass candlesticks and hand-collected lanterns added to the golden glow. The couple sat at a sweetheart table adorned in eucalyptus garlands and rose petals, with a view of the Zambezi flickering in the background.

Guests dined under the stars at long candlelit tables with views of the river at a distance. Local cuisine, infused with couples favourite  flavours, was saved alongside stories, laughter.  As night fell, the celebration took on a magical glow. a bonfire crackled nearby while guest danced on the dance floor with the bride and the groom. There were no ballrooms or chandeliers but just the moon, the sky so vast it made everyone feel part of something special.

David and Shannons wedding wasn't just a celebration love but it was a powerful reminder of it means to be present, to live internationally, and to embrace the raw beauty of life. In the heart of African bush, under a tree older than time, two souls became one. and just like baobab their love promises to stand through all seasons, rooted deep , reaching far, and full of quiet grace.
